Hollywood movies ‘Supergirl’ and ‘Toy Story 5’ have recorded strong box office performances, underscoring sustained audience interest in international films across West Africa.

The distribution company announced on its Instagram page that ‘Supergirl’ opened with N47 million at the West African box office, emerging as the number one film of the weekend.

The distributor also said the superhero blockbuster recorded the second highest grossing opening weekend for a female superhero film of all time.

“Supergirl delivers a super landing on its opening weekend at the box office, opening with N47 million and making it the number one film of the weekend. It is also the second highest grossing opening weekend for a female superhero film of all time,” the company said.

Meanwhile, animated family film, ‘Toy Story 5’ continued its impressive cinema run, grossing N17 million at the West African box office.

FilmOne thanked audiences for their support, noting that the latest instalment of the popular franchise continued to attract moviegoers.

“Toys are back. The battle between toys and tech stays strong with N17 million at the box office. Thank you West Africa for showing up,” the distributor said.
