How DSS arrested ex-minister Nnaji

By Soni Daniel, Abuja

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday arrested former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, as he was preparing to board a private jet to Abuja.

Security sources said Nnaji, who resigned in October last year under controversial circumstances, was arrested by DSS operatives at the request of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of certificate forgery.

According to the sources, the former minister was subsequently handed over to the ICPC for further investigation.

The sources further disclosed that the ICPC had previously sent several invitations to Nnaji following petitions concerning the management of his ministry.

They said the anti-graft agency sought the assistance of the DSS to effect his arrest after he allegedly failed to honour the invitations.
