APC disowns viral list claiming to reveal primary election winners

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as fake a list circulating on social media and other online platforms purporting to contain the names of candidates who emerged victorious in its recently concluded primary elections.

In a public notice issued on Sunday, the ruling party clarified that it had not released any official compilation of successful aspirants and cautioned party members and the public against relying on unofficial reports.

The disclaimer, signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, was published through the party’s official X account.

The party stressed that any publication claiming to announce the outcome of the primaries did not emanate from its leadership.

According to the statement, “The public is therefore advised to disregard any publication or report purporting to announce the outcome of the primaries, as such information is false and unauthorised.”

The APC explained that the process of notifying successful aspirants had not been concluded, adding that only candidates officially recognised by the party would be contacted through its established communication channels before receiving their Certificates of Return.

The notice stated, “Successful candidates would be formally notified through the party’s official channels, after which Certificates of Return would be issued in line with established procedures.”

The party further appealed to its members, stakeholders and the general public to depend solely on official APC statements and verified communication platforms for authentic information regarding the results of its primary elections, warning that unauthorised publications should be ignored.
