The fire was reported on Friday at the terminal located along the Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa.

Spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed the incident in a brief message sent to journalists.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow,” he said.

Details of the incident were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report.

The cause of the fire had also not been ascertained.

Emergency officials were still at the scene working to bring the situation under control.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over fire safety around fuel depots, tank farms and energy facilities in Lagos, especially in high-risk industrial corridors such as Apapa.
