The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, on Saturday commended the state’s chapter of the Association of Local Governments in Nigeria (ALGON) over the donation of additional 60 patrol vehicles to combat crimes in the state.
The association had in May donated 30 units of Hilux pick-up vehicles to security agencies in the state.
The excited CP Gotan expressed his deep appreciation to the association for the donations, stating that the gesture represented commitment of all to strengthening security architecture in the state.
“Today’s event represents more than the commissioning of vehicles; it reflects a collective commitment to strengthening security architecture, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing public safety within our communities.
“On behalf of the officers and men of the Osun State Police Command, I express sincere appreciation to Osun ALGON, under the amiable Chairman, Honourable Samuel Abiodun Idowu for this thoughtful and strategic intervention.
“Security remains a shared responsibility, and investments such as this demonstrate confidence in the ability of security agencies to continue delivering effective service to the people.
“These operational vehicles will significantly improve mobility, response time, patrol coverage, intelligence-led operations, and inter-agency collaboration in combating crime and maintaining public order,” the police boss said.
He assured the public that the assets would be “deployed judiciously, maintained properly, and utilised strictly for the purpose (security) for which they are intended; which is to safeguard lives and property and ensure peace across Osun State.”
