Seplat Energy Named Energy, Dividend Paying Company Of The Year At NCMA

Seplat Energy Plc was named Energy Company of the Year and Dividend Paying Company of the Year at the Nairametrics Capital Market Awards (NCMA) 2026 in Lagos on Friday.

Nairametrics said the awards reflected the company’s financial performance, operational efficiency, production consistency and shareholder returns.

The organiser’s assessment used a data-driven framework that considered indicators such as revenue growth, profit after tax (PAT) growth, return on average equity (ROAE), production output or capacity, dividend yield and dividend payout ratio.

Each parameter was weighted to support an objective assessment of long-term value creation and operational execution, Nairametrics said.

Ugodre Obi-Chukwu, founder and chief executive officer of Nairametrics Financial Advocates Limited, said the awards were intended to recognise excellence, resilience and innovation across the capital market ecosystem.

He noted that despite global economic uncertainty, tighter financial conditions and exchange-rate volatility, Nigeria’s capital market had shown resilience supported by stronger investor confidence, improved corporate earnings, innovation and increased retail participation.

The theme of this year’s awards was “Capital Markets as a Pathway to Responsible Wealth Creation,” Obi-Chukwu added.

Director of External Affairs and Social Performance at Seplat Energy, Chioma Afe, commended Nairametrics for its work in supporting the capital market and said the awards encourage higher standards and best practices. She said the recognition was a prompt for continued performance and returns for stakeholders.
