Armed terrorists have attacked Ungwan Atiku village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing one person and abducting 11 others. Three nursing mothers and their babies were among those abducted.
The fresh attack has worsened the humanitarian crisis in Southern Kaduna where dozens of residents remain in captivity for months following earlier attacks.
The attack was disclosed to DAILY POST by the former media aide to the late Kaduna State Governor, Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, Mr. Reuben Buhari.
He disclose that the incident happened on Sunday, June 28.
According to Buhari, the attackers stormed Ungwan Atiku village, shot sporadically, resulting in the killing of Mr. Joseph Simon before abducting the 11 residents.
Those abducted, according to him are, “Deborah David and her infant, Rejoice Jonathan and her infant, Deborah Aminu and her infant, Loise Geoffrey, Gerard Geoffrey, Mercy Timothy, Jummai Sunday and Wisdom Doctor.”
The abduction of three nursing mothers and their babies, DAILY POST gathered, has heightened fears among residents over the safety and welfare of vulnerable victims in captivity, especially women and children.
Buhari explained that the latest attack took place while efforts were still ongoing to secure the release of residents kidnapped in previous attacks across Southern Kaduna, who have been in captivity for months.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, was not successful as he did not respond to calls.
